Snow and Sunshine

One minute we have sunny 80 degree weather, and the next we drive an hour and get snow. Regardless of what you go to the mountain for, it is always going to be beautiful. Enjoying the views from the cafe in the lodge or riding down the mountain with your buddies, you are still seeing one of God's most gorgeous creations.

There are three pieces I cannot go to the mountain without. I need my warm North Face (snow jacket or down jacket), Carhartt beanie and my Sorel boots. The cool thing about all of these pieces is they come in all sorts of colors. You can always find different brands of snow and down jackets as well as snow boots on Amazon. I love looking to find good deals and always try to find a good bargain before I spend money on something at full price.

I recently went skiing after years of thinking I would be horrible at it. News to me, I WASN'T! I wasn't the best skiier out there but I had so much fun and was actually descent (and by descent I mean I could keep up and only fall a few times). I am excited to get out this next snow season and do some more. After years of my friends going to the mountain to snowboard and ski..and me sledding or hanging in the lodge, I can finally go and enjoy snow sports with them. Enjoy the sun AND snow this year, we're lucky we get both!

Hanging in Hood River

Living in Vancouver, we have the luxury of being close to a variety of different hiking spots, historical landmarks, shopping malls, wineries, and quirky towns. I am sure there are tons more but there is just a few examples of why living in Vancouver is great. Which leads me to Hood River; one of the coolest cities in Oregon. It is quirky, historical, has some amazing restaurants, breweries, and wineries. Not to mention it is known for its amazing wind surfing.

The other day, my girlfriend and I were on our way back from a wedding. Since we were passing all of these amazing places we couldn't resist the urge to stop at a few. Hood River being one of them. We just so happened to go on the perfect day. No rain. No clouds. Just the sunshine. Now I love boots. I have too many of them if I am being honest (which I am not sure is even possible). These black boots I found on Hautelook. If you have ever been on it, then you can testify that it is one of the most dangerous websites you can shop on. They have awesome sales, and they make it so easy to do returns if you need to. Since they are associated with Nordstrom, you make all your returns at Nordstrom Rack. All you need is your receipt from the package and whatever it was you purchased with the tags still attached. The boots are Lucky Brand and they have tons of awesome finds on their website as well.

All Things NIKE

Very few times is working out fun...well just about every time I work out with one of my best friends (who is also the amazing photographer who takes my pictures) we have an absolute blast! Whether I am complaining about being tired or lazy, she always picks me up and makes me keep going; motivation is key. I mean really, who can say they have a fun time working out?!

I am obsessed with this Nike crop hoodie zip-up. It is definitely a favorite of mine. There is a similar crop jacket by Hurley I also love. You can throw them on with jeans and a tee, leggings, workout shorts, etc. My leggings are also from Nike, if you can't tell I LOVE Nike! What I love about the brand is they are dependable. I know that if I buy something from them, it will last a really long time. My Nike Frees were given to me when I was working for the baseball team at Oregon State when I was a student there. They have a ton that you can search for on their website but I love that you can customize them to match your personality too!

Casual Fall Style

Sometimes I get stuck in these ruts of "Hmm, what should I wear today? I have no clothes!" A little dramatic, yes, but we all have those days. Times like that, just take a step back and think of a few of your favorite things.

I love patterns, all things western, and I have a sweet spot for booties, especially my L.L. Bean ones. I got these booties a few years ago but they have an awesome shoe collection you can check out here. I never thought L.L. Bean had much more than outdoorsy wear but they have so much more and the quality of their product is meant to last a lifetime. My skirt is from Nordstrom B.P. and they always have a great selection to get lost in. For my tank, it's one of my favorites and greatest little must-haves. Target carries just about every color in this tank! I have SO many different colors and they have lasted me a long time, not to mention they are a great deal. It's awesome to layer with or throw on on a warm sunny day. Now the belt was probably my favorite accessory that tied this outfit together and made it more me; simple and a little bit of country. I thought it went well with the polka dots and the brown broke up the black and white combo I had going on.

Consign Me Crazy

I am not sure when I thought I would wear ripped boyfriend jeans with heels but I finally did! Crazy that when you become confident with yourself that you feel confident in what you wear. It may not be everyone's first choice but if you feel good then go with it. I paired my jeans with a cute simple tee I purchased from a small boutique in Hood River. The jeans are from American Eagle and you can find a similar pair here! The top is from the brand Bandit. They have an online store, which is amazing! All t-shirts are trendy no matter what the season is. These tees are all hand drawn or vintage, you can't help but fall in love when you see them.

Now, I have always had a thing for consignment stores and thrift shopping (I love to find deals and unique articles of clothing whenever I can.) I have found that Bellevue, WA has some of the most amazing consignment stores. The shoes I am wearing I got from a consignment boutique called Between Friends. The few times I have been they are always friendly and warm, not to mention their selection from shoes to clothes to jewelry is amazing! I definitely recommend checking this place out if you are ever in the area!

Sunshine and Wine

As Fall is becoming more apparent in the Northwest, I am trying to take full advantage of the nice weather before the rain hits. I love wearing white on white so today, I paired my white Flying Monkey jeans with an oversized off-white sweater from Target. I don't believe they are carrying it in stores or online right now but you can find a similar style here. To finish this clean look, I wore my Steve Madden pointy toed flats. I have a staple necklace that I wear with just about everything. It was gifted to me from my best friend for my birthday. You can find more initial necklaces here and there are so many options on Etsy if you search their website a little. It was such a fun day shooting at Maryhill Winery located in the Columbia Gorge. We made a day out of it and went wine tasting (for my first time!) They have an awesome deal where you can wine taste for only $5.00 and if you purchase a bottle afterwards, you get reimbursed for your wine tasting fee. You could say it was a good day! I would say October is off to a pretty great start. Cheers!

Fall Classics

One of the best times of the year is when you get to feel the crisp air mixed with the warm sunshine. That's right, Fall! It is such a great time to bring out the flannels and combat boots. With this combo you can pretty much wear them with anything. The weather around here has been so gorgeous lately that I decided to pair my Fall flannel with boots and a casual black dress. I am a big fan of finding great deals on essential items. You can find this simple black everyday dress from Old Navy and these go-with-everything brown boots from Steve Madden. Another great site for some cute boots is from DSW. They have some awesome deals ALWAYS. To accessorize the outfit I wore my favorite sea green necklace from Banana Republic. I believe I got it Fall of 2014 so they are not carrying it anymore but they always have great jewelry to choose from. Get ready for lots of flannels, boots, tights, scarves, and big cozy jackets. Let the Fall begin!
